Quintodecimo 2020 Irpinia Falanghina 750ml

The 2019 Falanghina Via del Campo is spicy and wonderfully fresh, blending notes of sour melon and pear with yellow flowers, incense and stone dust. This is a fleshy and round expression that mixes tart citrus and orchard fruits with brilliant acidity to create a sense of abundance, but also unbridled energy. The sweet and sour interplay through the finale keeps you guessing and leaves the palate buzzing with residual tension, as hints of candied lemon and almond paste fade. While not a Via del Campo for the ages, the 2019 could use a short stay in the cellar to allow its bouquet to fully blossom, and it should then go on to make a lot of collectors very happy for a number of years.
