Mt. Boucherie 2021 Reserve Merlot 750ml

This was an excellent vintage in the Okanagan, and I like how it plays out here with very fine balance, texture and classic blackberry fruit ripeness. There is also some herbal subtlety. But the oak resin, chocolate and spice looms large on the nose and palate. This should recede with age but just a bit too dominant for me for now. The acid balance is almost perfect. Tannins are youthfully crusty and there is a classic BC finish of sage and sand. The length is excellent. Best 2025 to 2030.
