Kollwentz 2020 Chardonnay Katterstein 750ml
Pale yellow-green, silver glints. Gentle hints of meadow herbs, yellow tropical fruit, mango and apple, mineral nuances, pleasant nutty notes, and a smidge of blossom honey. Complex, full-bodied, ripe pear fruit, fine acidity structure, and persistence. Assured development potential. A versatile, bold food accompaniment.
Score: 96 points -- Peter Moser, Falstaff, 2022
The 2020 Chardonnay Ried Katterstein has the slightest touch of flint and intense dried corn husk notions with just a little lemon. The palate immediately shows freshness on its textured, polenta-creamy palate. This is bold and ripe but is pervaded by brightness, with hardly any wood showing through. This spent one year on gross lees before being racked into stainless steel with fine lees to mature for another six months. (Bone-dry)
