Description
Opaque magenta. Ripe blackberry and cherry liqueur aromas are complemented by suggestions of peppery spices, licorice and candied violet. Round, concentrated black and blue fruit flavors show very good delineation, and smoky mineral and cracked pepper elements add lift and back-end cut. Velvety tannins add subtle grip to a spicy, floral-dominated finish that lingers with strong tenacity. This is a small-production wine and crafted in an entirely different fashion than the Jamets’ other Côte-Rôties, which are made entirely with whole clusters. Made from 20-year-old vines and with de-stemmed fruit. Drink: 2023-2031
Score: 93 points -- Josh Raynolds, Vinous, 2020
