Foxtrot 2020 Wily Fox Pinot Noir 750ml

Foxtrot Wily Fox is a small selection of the best barrels from the estate. These vines were six and seven years old in 2020 and are primarily own rooted cuttings from Foxtrot's Estate Vineyard. It gets a four day cold soak before a stainless steel fermentation using one-third whole clusters and destemmed berries. Gentle pumpovers marked the 21 days of maceration, followed by 14 months in 25 percent new French oak barrels. New World style here, this pinot has a robust savoury desert undertow mixed with cassis, red currants, and spicy raspberries. Built for food, this is your duck confit wine. A slightly more rugged version of the group, it will need time in the bottle.

This vineyard was planted in 2013/2014 with own-rooted cuttings from the original clone 115 vines on the estate vineyard. The wine was fermented in stainless steel and, after 21 days of maceration, was transferred into French oak barrels (25% new) for 14 months. This is a concentrated wine with aromas of cherry and red currant. There is a great depth of flavour here with notes reminiscent of cassis.
