It is hard to believe you can get a well made red wine from Sicily for the same price as a decade ago. Cantine Fina is the maker of this easy sipping nero d'avola grown on the western side of Sicily. Ripening wine in Sicily has never been a problem, and growing at altitude with care seems to have solved the freshness issue. The result is a full-bodied, juicy red packing raspberry and black cherry with a touch of dry earth and leather in the finish for mystery. I love that the alcohol is a modest 13 percent, and the tannins are soft. A classic pizza red that can double up with sausages or burgers from the grill. Excellent value.
