Retail Sales Floor Associate

Job Overview

Are you passionate about Wine, Spirits and Beer and wanting to expand your knowledge and experience in a specialized retail environment? Marquis Wine Cellars, Vancouver’s premier independent Wine Store, is looking to hire a Retail Sales Floor Associate on a full-time basis to provide excellent service our customers and to support daily store operations.

Since Marquis Wine Cellars deals directly with the public, people skills are a must. We are looking for someone who is friendly, out-going and who understands the finer points of working in a consumer-oriented retail environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet and assist customers with wine, spirit and beer selections.
• Reply to customer queries in-store, on the phone or via email.
• Operate our POS system and process payments via cash, Interac and credit card.
• Restock shelves, fridges, case stacks and displays on an ongoing basis.
• Ensure all shelves and displays are organized, well-stocked, faced and properly priced.
• Assist in the unloading and stocking of daily and weekly deliveries of wine, spirits and beer.
• Assist in the picking and packing of customer orders for in-store pickup.
• Assist in the picking, packaging and shipping of customers orders received in-store, over the phone, via email or through our website.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization on an ongoing basis across all inside and outside areas of the store.
• Restock all store supplies as needed and inform General Manager when products need to be re-ordered.
• Empty recycling and garbage bins as needed.
• Assist with event setup and execution.
• Various other day to day tasks associated with operations of a retail wine store.

Qualifications

• Must be 19 years of age or older.
• WSET Level 1 or equivalent Wine, Beer and Spirits knowledge.
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
• Computer literate (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
• Friendly and reliable with a mature attitude.
• Self-motivated and willing to learn.
• Responsible Service BC Certificate (can be acquired at time of hiring).
• Ability to work varying shifts including evenings and weekends.
• Capable to lift boxes weighing up to 40lbs repeatedly.
• Able to stand for extended periods of time.

Schedule

• 4 to 5 shifts per week.
• Up to 8 hour shifts per day.
• Available weekdays, weekends and evenings.
• Available on statutory holidays.
