Burrowing Owl 2024 Pinot Gris 750ml

This vibrant white wine is produced by the Burrowing Owl Estate Winery, located in the South Okanagan Valley of British Columbia, Canada. Since its founding in 1993, the winery has become a leader in the region, known for its "no-compromise" approach to quality and its commitment to environmental conservation, specifically protecting the endangered burrowing owl. The 2024 vintage represents a unique moment in the winery's history, as a severe "deep freeze" in January 2024 destroyed over 90% of the Okanagan's grape crop. To ensure continuity, Burrowing Owl and other premium producers were granted a one-year exemption to source high-quality fruit from the Pacific Northwest (Washington and Oregon) to supplement their limited estate yields.

The 2024 Burrowing Owl Pinot Gris maintains the estate’s signature style: refined, expressive, and texturally rich. It presents a pale straw colour and opens with an aromatic nose of pear, nectarine, and honeydew melon, layered with exotic notes of citrus blossom, jasmine, and a touch of honey. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied and silky, offering flavours of ripe stone fruit and lemon zest balanced by a crisp, refreshing acidity. The finish is clean and persistent, showcasing a characteristic mineral undertone and subtle spice from short aging on the lees.
