Robertson's lime-rich soils — unusual in South Africa — and cooling afternoon breezes off the Indian Ocean give this workhorse Chenin unexpected freshness. Pale straw with green flecks. Guava, yellow apple and white peach lead, lifted by melon, honeysuckle and a squeeze of lime. Cool-fermented in stainless steel, unoaked, so fruit stays vivid and unadorned. The palate is off-dry to dry, medium-bodied, with a rounded mid-palate balanced by brisk acidity and a clean, faintly stony finish. Straightforward, sunny, superb value. Serve well chilled, 8–10°C; drink young.
Pairing: grilled fish, roast pork, Thai curry, fresh chèvre.
