Pieri Agostina 2017 Brunello Di Montalcino 750ml

Searching through the dark depths of the 2017 Brunello di Montalcino is quite pleasurable, as smoky stone and sage evolve into black licorice, confectioners spice and cherry pits. It washes across the palate with silky elegance, as a hint of cracked pepper gives way to ripe red berries and nuances of tart citrus to create a sweet and sour interplay toward the close. The 2017 is surprisingly accessible, with sweet tannins that frame the finish along with hints of plum and balsam herbs that linger. Agostina Pieri did a great job of finding balance here, and while the 2017 isn’t a wine for long term cellaring, it should provide plenty of satisfaction for many years to come.
