Callejuela 2019 La Choza Palomino de Flor 750ml
The other new unfortified white Vino de Pasto (the new "old" name used for these wines) is the 2019 Sobajanera Viña La Choza Cerro Santiago Macharnudo Bajo. It comes from a plot of 17-year-old vines in a pago where grapes ripen thoroughly, as it's dry and there is no mist in the morning and the plants don't get hydrated like the vineyards in Sanlúcar close to the coast. This has 15% alcohol and is getting closer to a Fino with the Macharnudo character of esparto grass and more volume in the palate, with glycerin and concentration with a strong influence from the white albariza limestone soils.
