This plot cuvée Le Montgruguet 2018, produced by Fabrice Pouillon, is a very delicate Blanc de Noirs. This vintage is a very nice approach to Pinot Noir Champagne with both structure and freshness.

Fabrice Pouillon chose Pinot Noirs from a unique plot “Le Montgruguet” in Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, a plot located on the banks of the canal and the Marne, and whose soil is an island of chalk. This terroir produces Pinot Noirs that are both very tense and lively with chalk, but the presence of the Marne creates a microclimate which gives them great maturity.

This vintage is vinified and aged in oak barrels with native yeasts. This champagne is lightly dosed to preserve its typicity and highlight the purity of its aromatic notes.

“I look at Le Montgruguet as in a family where a baby comes to enlarge it. And obviously, I compare him with his brothers, he looks like them but with something different, more visible each year. I see this wine growing from a spectacular terroir, with this very special expression of Pinot Noir that takes it from the essence of raw chalk to a unique texture and sophistication. I can't wait to see him grow.
