Montgruguet 2017, produced by Fabrice Pouillon is a fine and delicate Blanc de Noirs 100% Pinot Noir. This cuvée is a very nice approach to Champagne Pinot Noir with both structure and freshness.
Fabrice Pouillon has chosen Pinots Noirs from a singular plot "Le Montgruguet" in Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, a plot located on the edge of the canal and the Marne, and whose soil is an island of chalk. This terroir gives Pinots Noirs both very tense and lively with the chalk, but the presence of the Marne creates a microclimate which brings them a beautiful maturity.
This cuvée is vinified and aged in oak barrels and dosed in Extra-Brut at 1 g/L to preserve the characteristics of this terroir and highlight the purity of its aromatic notes.
On the nose, this cuvée offers beautiful notes of plum, mirabelle plum and mandarin then opens on more gourmet aromas.
On the palate, this champagne is very delicate, silky and elegant with bubbles of great finesse. In the mid-palate, a nice mineral presence carries the wine.
