The Les Blanchiens 2014 cuvée, signed Fabrice Pouillon, is the estate's historic cuvée and bears the name of a superb plot of the Mareuil-sur-Aÿ vineyard. On this perfectly exposed plot, there are both Pinots Noirs and Chardonnays.
This cuvée is a marriage of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from a place called "Les Blanchiens", blended in the same proportions. The grapes come from the jewel of the Premier Cru terroir of Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, located mid-slope on clay-limestone soil.
Les Blanchiens 2014 is aged in oak barrels to give body and structure to the wine. It is a Brut Nature, a champagne with no added sugar which highlights the finesse and purity of its aromatic notes.
It is a champagne produced in very limited quantities, which combines finesse and complexity, fruitiness and freshness. In this cuvée we find the patina of aging in wood and beautiful notes of dried fruits (apricot, hazelnuts). The palate is creamy with an impressive and tense length, marked by salinity and the bitterness of slightly candied citrus zest.
This cuvée Les Blanchiens 2014 will be ideal as an aperitif but will also go wonderfully with refined dishes such as smoked langoustines served with a creamy sauce with dried fruits and pomelo zest.
