Tantalus' Old Vines Riesling is something completely different. First off, it comes only from a single block of north-facing vines planted by the previous owners in 1978. It was fermented to near dry, but its measly four grams of residual sugar are little match for the minerality and acidity that electrifies this wine. It is not for everyone, and riesling aficionados should be happy with that; otherwise, it would be all gone in seconds after its release. Long, taut, serious, savoury, and as dry as it gets, this is a northern Okanagan experience in a bottle. Buy a case and drink one, screwcapped-finished, bottle every three years for the next 36 years.
