Tryptych of apple in green, ripe and dropped. Notes of brioche and smoky flint and spice. Deep palate with vibrant, citrus acidity – crisp but never biting. Dips a toe into the natural pool, but keeps the palate taut and precise. So mineral, austere and divine. Complex and racy with unbelievable verve.

As this lovely note from the winery explains, Heinrich's 'Leithaberg' Chardonnay is a wine that builds in flavour and enjoyment the longer you have it in your glass. It transports you to the vines of the Leitha Mountains, unfolding into layers of orchard fruit, peach, lemon curd and toasted nuts, with a lightly creamy finish. A beautiful Chardonnay with extended lees ageing and a soft texture that comes from old oak ageing. Fantastic value, and especially delicious with chicken cooked in sage butter, or even halibut cooked in brown butter (butter is key here!).
