Description
The fresh and pure Garnacha 2018 Supersónico was produced with grapes from two hectares of old vines in the village of Sestrica at close to 1,030 meters in altitude (the highest altitude of all their vineyards) on complex soils with slate, granite and limestone and cropped from a cool and rainy year. They cut the grapes to limit alcohol to 13.5% alcohol and achieve great freshness; to preserve this, they fermented it in oak and concrete vats with 30% foot-trodden full clusters, followed by a long maceration (40 days) and matured in used oak 500-liter barrels and 2,500-liter oak foudres for one year. This is really aromatic and expressive, with tons of notes of violets, a little exuberant and somehow reminiscent of the aromatics of Touriga Nacional, and there's a sensation of grape pulp, plump, juicy and tasty, with very fine tannins, subtle and elegant. A high-altitude Garnacha of finesse.
