This is a balls-to-the-wall Shiraz oozing ripe dark fruit and minty, chocolaty oak. There're subtler notes of ground coffee, bay leaf and peppercorn, but the oak and fruit rule. The palate is as rich and powerful as the nose suggests, but despite the hulk, it finds balance and tannin structure. Cut this with a knife now, but it shows aging potential over the next 7-10 years.
