Dalamara
Established in 1840, Dalamara is a historic, family-run estate located just outside Naoussa, in northern Greece. Led by sixth generation winemaker Kostis Dalamara, who refined his craft in Beaune, France, the winery is celebrated for its dedication to organic and biodynamic viticulture. Since transitioning to organic farming in 1996 and biodynamic methods in 2008, Dalamara continues to set high standards for sustainability and terroir driven winemaking.
Spread across six hectares on the eastern slopes of Mount Vermio, the vineyards benefit from clay limestone soils and an ideal altitude between 250 and 350 metres. Kostis practices minimal intervention in the cellar, using native yeasts and avoiding filtration or fining, resulting in pure, expressive wines that authentically reflect the character of their region.
Dalamara’s flagship grape, Xinomavro, is often compared to Nebbiolo for its structured tannins and vibrant acidity. Their renowned single vineyard wine, Paliokalias, comes from vines planted in the 1920s, exhibiting complexity with notes of cherry, dried tomato, and mineral driven smokiness.
Other notable wines include Naoussa, an expressive, classic Xinomavro; Ayehoros, a rich blend of Xinomavro and Negoska offering plummy depth; Kapnistos, a distinctive, smoky white blend of Malagouzia, Assyrtiko, and Roditis; and Thoos, a fresh, aromatic white wine.
Dalamara Winery remains a benchmark producer in Greece, crafting exceptional wines that are as authentic as they are memorable.
