Hints of herbal tea and crushed leaf can be found on the cool, pure and brooding nose of wild red currant, forest floor and wet stone. The sense of underlying tension is palpable on the exquisitely detailed and equally muscular larger-bodied flavors that conclude in a very firm, and very firmly austere, finale where a touch of bitter pit fruit character slowly emerges. This is a wine to buy and forget that you own it, not only because of the magnum format but also because it is extremely tightly wound.
