The Alpha Estate 2023 Assyrtiko Ecosystem Aghia Kiriaki (in a heavy glass bottle) is a true beauty, offering yet another very compelling argument for Assyrtiko as one of the great grapes of Greece and the world. It offers a complex bouquet of lemon, tangerine and something very chiseled and sharp like shards of limestone. It is sweet and salty at the same time. I also get a green leafy note and white flower. This wine shows structure, firmness and pretty acidity. A sweet note of key lime pie is very distinctive on the close. The Florina appellation has well-draining alluvial sand and sandy clay soils. Fruit comes from a 2.45-hectare site at a breezy 535 meters above sea level. Winemaking in stainless steel sees eight months of sur lies aging and stirring.
