This whiskey was one of the final creations of the late, legendary Master Distiller Dave Pickerell. It was specifically designed to be the ultimate rye for bartenders - robust enough to stand up in cocktails but affordable enough to pour freely. Made with a 100% rye mash bill and aged for six years, it is bottled at exactly 96.56 proof (a nod to the year Pickerell was born, 1956). It offers a grittier, punchier profile than the standard WhistlePig 10 Year, stripping away some of the elegance in favour of raw, spicy power.
Tasting Notes: The nose is intense and fresh, dominated by cinnamon, white pepper, and grapefruit zest, with a distinct undertone of wet earth and leather. On the palate, that 100% rye mash bill explodes with spicy heat. You get sharp notes of clove, ginger, and nutmeg, balanced by a fleeting sweetness of vanilla and citrus peel. The finish is crisp and dry, lingering with baking spices and a touch of dark chocolate.
