Glass-staining ruby. Vibrant red berry and floral aromas are impressively pure and high-pitched. Tangy raspberry and cherry flavors display striking clarity and are deepened by smoky minerals and candied violet. I was shocked when Michael Twelftree told me that this wine was packing 16% alcohol as I found no heat, excess weight, thickness or sweetness. The energetic red fruits carry through the long, seamless, mineral-tinged finish. I've had plenty of high-end New World pinots that were less graceful than this wine.
