Scout Vineyard NV Rose 750ml

A blend of 60% 2021 Vintage and 40% 2022 vintage. The grapes come from four distinct “appellations”: Naramata, Oliver, Osoyoos, and the Similkameen Valley. Comprised of Cab Sauv Rosé (8 hours on the skins), Cab Sauv and Gewurtztraminer co-ferment, skin contact Pinot Gris, Muscat, and Riesling, on the skins for 7-14 days, in a variety of vessels (open top vats, qvevri, neutral barrels, and a small amount of stainless steel). We do lots of trial blending until we find the right balance between the herbaceousness of the Cab, the aromatics of the Gew and Muscat, and the saltiness and textures of the Riesling and Pinot Gris. This is a darker rosé; still bright and floral as in the past, but with the addition of the older ’21 vintage, there’s a little more body and texture, and slight savouriness that has started to develop. Nothing taken or added except 15ppm sulphur.

We have been working on holding our wines back longer every year. We find our wines to be more stable and ultimately gain more texture and complexity if we allow them to age longer before we bottle. Last year we held back half of each wine, aging them in neutral barrels, on the lees, without racking for an additional year. For this upcoming release we have blended the aged 2021 wines with some of the recent 2022 vintage and labelled them all as “Non-Vintage”.
