The 2022 Grüner Veltliner Reichersdorf Alte Setzen is from a 1951-planted mid-slope site on the on lighter gypsum-like limestone, with a light loess cover, facing east. This was fermented half in steel, half in used 2,000- and 2,500-liter acacia barrels, where it stayed for ten months on gross lees, avoiding malolactic fermentation. Fern, pepper and yeast play alongside gentle green and yellow pear fruit. The palate, likewise, is an expression of savory yeast on a svelte, light and taut body of limestone slenderness. The finish is bright, lemony, tangy and peppery. (Bone-dry)
