Kutatas 2024 Pinot Gris 750ml

Pinot Gris in our cool coastal climate provides a fresh and crisp quality that is not often found in Gris grown in warmer regions. The grapes are whole clusters pressed using a champagne-style cycle. This long, slow pressing delivers a juice that does not require the settling and racking step. The juice is transferred straight from the press to neutral oak barrels, where it spontaneously ferments without an inoculation of yeast. Although this unsettled juice (full-solids) is a risky practice, the juice solids add texture and provide the wine a subtle minerality. MLF occurs naturally in the spring/summer; the wine is racked and bottled after 9 months in a barrel.
