Kurtatsch
Cantina Kurtatsch is a cooperative winery in Alto Adige, Italy, established in 1900. It comprises 190 families cultivating 190 hectares of vineyards situated between 220 and 900 meters above sea level. This elevation range allows for diverse microclimates, enabling each grape variety to thrive in its ideal terroir. The cooperative emphasizes sustainable practices and precise vinification to produce wines that reflect their origin.
The winery's vineyards span various altitudes and soil types. For instance, the Hofstatt vineyard, located between 500 and 650 meters, benefits from cooling evening winds and mineral-rich soils, making it suitable for Pinot Bianco. Mazon, at 350 to 450 meters, is renowned for Pinot Nero, offering loamy soils and a plateau setting that contributes to the grape's complexity. These site-specific conditions are integral to the character of the wines produced.
Our current selection includes the Chardonnay, showcasing the winery's dedication to crafting expressive white wines. The Pinot Nero Riserva reflects the depth achievable from the Mazon vineyard. The Pinot Bianco offers freshness and minerality, while the 2023 Schiava Sonntaler presents a light-bodied red with bright fruit notes. Each wine exemplifies Cantina Kurtatsch's commitment to terroir-driven winemaking.
