(40% Pinot Meunier, 30% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay; 9.2 g/l dosage): Light orange. Precise, incisive aromas of redcurrant and blood orange, with a sexy floral nuance adding complexity. Spicy red berry and citrus fruit flavors are given spine and focus by juicy acidity. The floral note comes back strong on the finish, which features a subtle touch of smokiness. A little over half of the pinot here was in the form of still red wine.

The NV Brut Rose is an attractive fruit-driven wine with gorgeous notes of pomegranate, roses and spices, all supported by pretty notes of chalkiness. This polished, elegant wine offers outstanding length and tons of harmony. In another year or so the wine’s inner perfume should emerge even more fully. Still, it is impossible not to admire this beautifully crafted, poised rose. Chiquet’s NV Brut Rose is mostly 2006 Chardonnay, with the addition of 2004 and 2005 still Pinot Noir. This bottle was disgorged in March, 2008 and botled with 8 grams of dosage. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2011.
