Barbaresco

If not for Barolo, Barbaresco might claim the title of King of Italian wines. Barbaresco produces powerful Nebbiolos of its own, many of which will drink well eariler than those from Barolo nest door. The Nebbiolo grapes are grown on the rolling hills around the communes of Barbaresco, Treiso, Neive and a few others, alongside other local grapes like Moscato, Dolcetto and Barbera.

Produttori Del Barbaresco 2017 Barbaresco 750ml

The 2017 Barbaresco shows just how appealing this vintage can be. In 2017, the warm, dry growing season gave the Barbaresco an extra kick of richness that fills out its frame and adds so much immediacy. Sweet red berry fruit, cinnamon, rose petal and...

Marchesi di Barolo 2014 Barbaresco DOCG 750ml

$69.13

The 2014 Barbaresco Tradizione is a nicely centered wine that offers a solid array of ripe fruit flavors with cherry and red currant in pole position. As I have discovered with other Barbaresco wines from 2014, the fruit is surprisingly opulent and soft...

Rizzi 2016 Barbaresco "Rizzi" 750ml

$56.43

The 2016 Barbaresco Rizzi is the most balanced wine in this series. The other wines feel a bit too ripe in my opinion, even in this 2016 vintage. This wine offers a soft and delicate side that is expressed with sweet fruit, spice, licorice and tar. This...
