The 2010 Montefalco Rosso is balanced and bright with a structural component provided by the Sagrantino and Cabernet grapes and acidity freshness offered by Sangiovese. Bright cherry and cassis emerge from the glass and the wine is focused and sharp on the finish. One year of oak aging has added spice and overall softness. Drink: 2014-2018.
Giampaolo Tabarrini (with consulting enologist Emiliano Falsini) has presented an exciting set of wines and is a rising star from Montefalco. It’s well worth keeping an eye on this winery.
