Opaque ruby. Exotic scents of black and blue fruit liqueur, incense and licorice, with a peppery nuance emerging as the wine opens in the glass. Fleshy and broad on the palate, offering sweet, deeply pitched blueberry and cherry compote flavors that are given spine by juicy acidity. The 2010 Catalina is a blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Carmenere and 7% Cabernet Franc which seems to have a special brightness and freshness with more aromas of blue fruit, personality and character, and balsamic (the holy trinity of Mediterranean aromatic herbs – rosemary, thyme and lavender). Juicy and meaty, with aromas and flavors of blueberries, cured meat, damsons and maraschino cherries, the palate is medium to full-bodied with round, plump tannins and good acidity.
