Monteraponi 2005 Vin Santo 375ml
Sadly, it is rare to find Vin Santo in the B.C. market these days. A combination of price with the struggle for sweet wines to be fashionable. A tiny amount of this wine is made annually, and the concentration, length and intensity of flavours is incredible. Malvasia 70%, Trebbiano 30%. Grapes are dried before vinification and aged for more than four years in barrel prior to release. Drink now and over the next 5-8 years.
The color can change from opaque to a dark amber. The typical scents of our Vin Santo often have notes of dried apricot, walnut shell, hazelnut and honey. Despite being a sweet wine, maintains a strong acidity, thanks to the territory rich in minerals and with a high altitude. -- Monteraponi.it
