Mas d'Auzieres 2006 Bois de Perie 750ml

The d?Auzieres 2006 Coteaux du Languedoc le Bois de Perie is mostly Syrah, with tiny amounts of Grenache and Mourvedre, and aged in barrels, one-third new. Aromatic overtones of coconut and vanilla from the oak segue nicely into the wine?s sweetly ripe cherry fruit, but on the palate, chalk, smoked meat, faintly medicinal suggestions of iodine, and lightly bitter fruit pit notes add depth and a welcome contrast with the wine?s sheer sweetness of fruit. At least 3-4 years of interesting cellar evolution seem assured.
