Fetneg is simply the anglicization of Fetească Neagră - an old pre-phylloxera variety of a Romanian/Moldovan grape. This is a rare wine outside of the region, although it has great ageing potential and tends to produce reds deep in colour and dark berry flavours. On the nose, aromas of vanilla, coffee, cocoa. Complex and muscular on the somewhat spicy palate, with dense but soft tannins. Good length and balanced acidity with lots of elegance. Aged 12 months in oak. 14.4% ABV.
