Kurt Angerer 2015 "Spies" Gruner Veltliner 750ml

High-toned evocations of nearly overripe apple, pear and honeydew melon shadowed by their distilled essences set the stage for a glossy, full, expansive palate that is liqueur-like in its richness and laced with herbal essences. Angerer administered more pre-fermentative skin contact than for his other Grüner Veltliner of the vintage, in order to convey some structure, but perhaps the consequently enhanced pH had greater influence, since the finish here wants just a bit for optimal energy, cut or length. (The site name Spiess is being discontinued by the authorities and rolled into an enlarged Ametzberg.)
