Funckenhausen Vineyards

Funckenhausen Vineyards slider

After searching for the perfect spot to establish a vineyard, owner Kurt Heinlein discovered a stunning property in San Rafael, Mendoza. The property is situated at 850 meters high, overlooking a breathtaking pre-mountain range and blessed with the Diamante River on its banks. In 2005, with the guidance of engineer Franco Lucchini, the owner planted the first 20 hectares of Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah. This led to the creation of one of the first wines of 25 de Mayo - San Rafael, an unexplored treasure. Funckenhausen Vineyards is located in the last fluvial terrace formed by the Diamante River, which determines the alluvial cone that shapes the soils. These heterogeneous soils consist of sandy loam layers with boulders of various magnitudes, caliches, and calcareous material deposits. The vineyard's location at 850 meters high in the southern oasis of Mendoza provides a colder climate compared to the rest of the region, leading to lower maximum temperatures throughout the year.
