Finca Tobella was founded in 2003 by John Lipscomb and his partner Nuria Tobella, who met while studying Oenology at UC Davis, California. After gaining valuable experience working for iconic producers such as Opus One, John moved to Spain with Nuria. Captivated by Priorat, they purchased all the parcels of a valley in Gratallops until they established their own 30 hectares of vineyards. The wine is made seriously and in small batches. 46% Mazuelo (Carignan), 42% Garnacha, and 12% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are blended to create the Especial. On the nose, aromas of red fruit, violet, slate, and eucalyptus. More of the same on the palate, with a complex and lengthy finish.
