A fruit-driven Sauvignon Blanc that will instantly charm and intrigue and invite you to explore the character contributed by each of the selected vineyard blocks. The nose leads with fresh guavas and a bouquet of white pears, kiwifruit and lychee with a touch of sun-soaked lavender. On the palate this Sauvignon Blanc delivers on expectation revealing a power-packed explosion of fresh tropical fruits, some grapefruit and even a hint of sun-ripened golden delicious apples. The palate is balanced and supported by a grippy acidity ensuring a long finish and which augurs well for aging potential. Powerful yet chiseled on the palate with outstanding body and an excellent concentration of fruit, this Sauvignon Blanc will have you reaching for a second glass.

Harvest Notes:

2015 was a “dream vintage” for Sauvignon Blanc in the Elgin Valley. Notably dry with no unseemly heat spikes which meant the grapes were without trace of blemish or rot and apart from one batch that was deliberately picked at the winemakers request for “green” flavours was able to be picked well ripe.

About:

The beautiful Elgin Valley is a high inland plateau, completely surrounded by mountains. Just 70km from Cape Town, South Africa, it is rapidly gaining a reputation for the production of premium quality wines. The Elgin Valley is the home of Elgin Vintners, publishers of fine wines and a close knit partnership of six dedicated grape growers from the region.

Elgin Vintner’s single biggest advantage is the biodiversity of their vineyards which is spread over a radius of 12kms with an unrivalled spectrum of terroir, fertile soils, aspects, altitudes and meso-climates. Aided by the cool Elgin Valley climate, Elgin Vintners strives for vineyards with a perfect balance and an ideal crop load-to-leaf ratio, yielding grapes that reach physiological and phenolic ripeness simultaneously. It is the blend of these essential elements that contributes to the fine quality of the wines from this region.

Through careful selection of the grapes from a variety of unique vineyards, Elgin Vintners is able to maximise the complexity and character for each individual wine.
