Appellation: Cotes de Bordeaux Castillon is the appellation at the very eastern edge of Bordeaux. The Côtes de Castillon wine region spreads over valleys and hillsides.
Terroir: Boulbènes over multi-coloured clay, with sand and silt on the lower slopes The Château La Mondette is a grand stone building dating from the end of the eighteenth century, located in the heart of the vineyard of Castillon. The estate is situated just twenty minutes away from St. Emilion, and a stone’s throw from the Dordogne valley.
Tasting Notes: An intense nose with notes of cherry, blackcurrant, blackberry and spices. A dense, fleshy taste which reveals young but mellow tannins. A neat finish gives way to an enduring aftertaste of red fruits. A superb wine, with good structure and rich fruit bursting on the palate. Red in colour with hints of violet. Alc. 12.5%
Serving Suggestions: The perfect accompaniment to steak & frites, served with wild mushrooms, grilled spare ribs, burgers.
