The 2011 Assajé is a pure expression of Carignano, half of which is aged in oak for 8 months. The wine shows a light touch with fragrant tones of pressed rose petal, red berry and cherry with pretty tones of spice and leather that add dimension at the back. Polished tannins and firm structure will carry this wine forward over the next few years. However, the hot vintage means that this edition of Assajé will have a shorter drinking window.
