Tasting Notes
Appealing vibrant varietal aromas of grapefruits, limes and lemon peel with a delicate floral overtone. Tastes of fresh, classic citrus flavours with hints of granny smith apples. Ideal accompaniment with natural oysters and a fresh garden salad. Perfect with salt and pepper squid.
Vintage Comments
A wet winter and cool spring replenished soil moisture and left good reserves of groundwater for the dry summer months. A mild summer with cool nights, moderate days and only one short heatwave facilitated good fruitset, and even, disease-free ripening. Vintage started apace at Bethany Wines on 15 February with the white varieties of Riesling, Semillon and Chardonnay all ripening in short succession. An intense seven weeks saw vintage 2012 wrap up on 12 April with the last pick of Shiraz going through the crusher. Cooler conditions led to an excellent growing season with white wines showing delicate flavours and beautiful aromatics, while the reds are full of density, colour and rich flavour. A vintage to watch.
Winemaker's Report
The grapes were picked early in the season to retain the desired clean fresh fruit flavours and natural acidity. They were crushed and then gently pressed to collect the free run juice which was fermented under controlled temperature conditions of 12-15 degrees for 10 days to retain the delicate fruit characters of this varietal.
Vineyard Notes
The Riesling was sourced from the Schrapel family and neighbouring vineyards in the Barossa Valley and Eden Valley. The vines are detail hand pruned to 60 buds per vine limiting yields to maximise flavour. The Barossa Valley vineyards produce a wine with richness and flavour, while the cooler Eden Valley vineyards provide the elegant and lifted floral aromatics of lemon blossom, lime and passionfruit.

We use Canada Post for the majority of deliveries and a courier for those nearest our location. If you are not at home when Canada Post attempts delivery of your package, they will leave a note with the nearest pickup location. By law, we cannot ship outside of the province and packages delivered by Canada Post cannot be left on the doorstep. Orders for downtown Vancouver may arrive the same or next day depending on time of order. Order cut-off is generally 10am PST on a best-effort basis.
