Bright, direct and focused, the 2008 Brunello di Montalcino Pelagrilli stands out for its purity and depth. Tar, smoke, licorice and dark raspberries all take shape in a fruit-forward, juicy Brunello that should drink well upon release. The Pelagrilli isn’t the most complex or layered Brunello to emerge from this site on the northern slopes of Montalcino, but it is drop-dead gorgeous from start to finish. Silky, polished tannins round things out in this utterly graceful, impeccable Brunello.
