Phantom Creek 2022 Riesling 750ml

The white wine program at Phantom Creek is under the guidance of Olivier Humbrecht, Master of Wine and proprietor of Alsace’s renowned Zind-Humbrecht estate. He applies the same protocol – a slow, gentle press; long spontaneous fermentations with indigenous yeasts; allows malolactic fermentation – in this case partial; and ageing in large oak casks. An understated beauty, the 2022 hints at green apple blossom, lemon verbena, dough and flint. Zesty and citrusy on the palate, this comes across as lean at first as uber racy, steely acidity takes the driver’s seat. Yet, it packs some density and should flesh out with time.
