The gorgeous, evolving nose on the 2008 The Contours Riesling is replete with notes of beeswax, honeyed toast and lemon curd over hints of chalk dust, shaved almonds and fresh hay. Dry and light-bodied, it has a good backbone of acid to support the intense, evolving citrus fruit and mineral flavors right through the finish with great persistence and harmony. Drink it now to 2022+. Score: 93+ points -- Wine Advocate, May 2014
Bright yellow. Citrus fruits, yellow apple, anise and honey on the deeply perfumed, mineral-accented nose. On the palate, sappy, concentrated Meyer lemon, pear and floral flavors are braced and lifted by juicy acidity and a hint of lemongrass. Chewy and focused on the long, incisive finish, with the mineral and orchard fruit qualities echoing strongly. Score: 93 points -- Vinous, Jul 2014
Pewsey Vale Vineyard’s “The Contours” Riesling is a defined and flavourful wine. The wine is a pale straw colour with green hues. The aromas are intense but restrained, classic fruit of lemons, with a hint of wild flowers, influenced now with the first hints of bottle aged toast, clove oil and lemon grass. The palate shows great length and depth with limes, dried rosemary and a hint of lemon grass. The wine finishes with a fresh natural acidity which balances the flavour intensity.
