Garage Wine Co 2018 "Bagual Vineyard" Garnacha Lot #99 750ml

The wines from Garage Wine Co. continue to be a challenge, as the names change constantly. This lot #99 is the 2018 Bagual Vineyard Garnacha, labeled Garnacha Field Blend in the past, and now they put the old spelling of the village of Calivoro on the label! It's from a vineyard next the Perquilauquen River that flows from the Coastal Range east toward the Andes and creates a very unique terroir that is at once alluvial and granitic as it passes Caliboro bringing granitic silt and has terrific drainage. I found more finesse and perfume this time, like the character fluctuates between cooler/wetter and warmer/drier years. The tannins here are finer than in the 2019 I tasted next to it. Like many of the wines here, this one also improves in the glass, so decanting might be a good idea.
