Unoaked. It exhibits fresh aromas of strawberry, black cherry and a delightful minerality. On the palate, taste both red and black berries, plum, a touch of spice and nice acidity on the balanced finish.
It’s been two years since I first recommended this Spanish red and it remains one of my favourite picks. The 2014 vintage is here and if you haven’t tried Xiloca you really should put it on your list. The aroma is strawberries and the flavour is red and black berries. There’s a little spice in this medium bodied red which just adds to the taste. For everyday drinking, this is the wine to buy. Pair it with stew or burgers or even as a “just because” wine after a tough day at work. The flavour will be enhanced by giving this wine some air. So decant it a half hour or so before pouring the first glass. I bet you’ll pour a second. -- Ron Wilson, CheapAndCheerful.ca
