Villa Symposia was founded in 2003. After traveling the Languedoc region for several months, Eric Prissette stopped at Aspiran, a small village north of Pezenas, where the Clairette (white varietal) dominates. After some research on the land, he found the opportunity to develop red wines. He acquired several plots of Syrah, Carignan and Grenache, started building a cellar and gave a name to this area. Late 2007, Eric decided to partner with Jean Pierre Lebaindre. Today they are still working on finding the best practices to produce great wines according to this specific terroir. Their goal is to develop deep and rich wines, with respect for the authentic Languedoc.
Syrah 55%, Carignan 35%, Grenache 5% and Mourvèdre 5%
The vineyard of this cuvee is from 30 years old vines, located for 50% on clay on limestone, 40% clay on gravel and 10% on Villafranchien. Villa Symposia is an organic estate, approaching biodynamic method.
The vinification is made in stainless steel. The wine is aged for 9 to 10 months in 1 year old wine wooden barrels and in stainless steel vats for the Carignan.
Dark cherry color. Blackcurrant, blackberry aromas with notes of cedar and spice. Medium to full bodied wine with a long finish.
