Vila Regia, or royal village, is the traditional Portuguese term for a town that was founded by a king. This wine from Upper Douro has won numerous international accolades and is one of the best values this year.
What to expect? Ruby red with red fruit aromas such as strawberry and raspberry, with hints of black fruit, slightly balsamic, and a dash of black pepper. It's full-bodied with well-integrated acidity, notes of red fruit and a pleasing finish. Surprisingly complex and an absolute bargain for essentially two bottles worth of wine (1.5L)
