Winemaker's Notes:

GRAPE VARIETY: 100% Dolcetto [from mass and clonal selection]

DESCRIPTION: Dolcetto is a delicate variety which not only requires proper sun exposure but all the attention and care of a prima donna as well. For this reason, Vajra Dolcetto is grown only in vineyards with great vocation. e incredible freshness and inebriating vinosity in this Dolcetto is capable of bringing us back, with a whirlwind of fragrances and aromas, right to the heart of the harvest.

VINEYARDS: A single varietal divided into four vineyards belonging to the Comunes of Barolo and Novello. Old vines from the vineyards of Vergne bless our wines with concentration, depth and wisdom who, from the top of the blocks, mentor the younger vines on how to carry out a life dedicated to beauty. The Ravera vineyard (Comune of Novello) with a western exposure, and medium altitude of 340 meters, allows the berries to ripen in a way that expresses a nice fruitiness and drinkability.

FARMING: Vajra has always believed in sustainable farming and keeps the turf natural and green in the vineyard. No irrigation is used while thinning is decided according to the vintage.

HARVEST AND WINEMAKING: Dolcetto harvesting is done the first half of September, protected from the worst bouts of cold weather. The grape picking is done manually to keep the grapes intact. Fermentation lasts 7-15 days depending on the vintage. Bottling is done the spring following the harvest, in the Easter moon.

TASTING NOTES: True to its history, this Dolcetto is vibrant and fresh which is seen in its beautiful violet color. Aromas and flavors of violets, red fruits and berries, marasca cherries and hay, inebriate the senses, recalling summer walks in the mountains. Smooth and open on the palate, it is balanced with refined tannins and lightened by a fresh acidity.
