"I tasted the 2011 Vigno Carignan from Undurraga at a separate tasting from the T.H Carignan, and this Vigno comes from the coastal Sauzal-Cauquenes zone of Maule. This is a field blend of 88% Carignan and the rest Cinsault planted in 1958, aged for 18 months in used barrels. The wine has a ripe nose of black plums, licorice, tree bark and Mediterranean herbs with a medium-bodied palate with sharp, delineated acidity, very integrated oak and very good freshness and length. The balsamic aromas grow with time in the glass. This is a great Mediterranean red at a great price. Superb! Drink now-2020."
